Welcome to our website, where you will find information regarding our Civic Action Project, such as surveys, research, petition and polls.
In Connecticut, the permit renewal process consists of only a seventy dollar fee ($70). However, in hopes of decreasing the amount of homicides, more should be done to prevent these disastrous events to be seen as yet another statistic. As a result, as part of our civic action project, my partner and I believe that into the permit renewal process should be implemented a psychiatric test along with another background check. Our research has concluded that in order to apply for a permit, fees must be paid and criminal records and background checks are verified in order to determine the applicant’s eligibility for the possession of the firearm permit. Also, the research further confirmed that any individual deemed as mentally ill becomes ineligible to obtain a firearm permit and is not is not granted such a permit from the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection officer.
